Our final morning on the water this year....and it didn't disappoint. Lots of friends and family of competitors made the swim out so it was a nice and relaxed scene. And we ran out of coffee before 9AM - 15 gallons! We're going to have to increase our capacity to 20 gallons next year - wow!

Another fun day on the water. Some notables, including Peter Reid, stopped by today for a cup! Tomorrow is our last day so make sure you stop by. We'll be on the course by 7AM.

Another fun day on the water. No cloudy start today...it was HOT from 7AM on! Went through 12 gallons of coffee and the Baker's Breakfast cookies were a hit...along with Gu's new pineapple roctane flavor.

Stop on by tomorrow. IM Talk will be conducting more interviews and Blue 70's Beijing Gold Medalist will be swimming out as well. Beat him and you win a Blue 70 speed suit. Good luck!

Floating Espresso Bar - Day 1 (Tuesday Morning)

What a morning! Started out overcast and cool but soon warmed up. Went through 8 gallons of coffee. Gu's new "pineapple" flavor was a huge hit as well. Blue 70 will be on the water tomorrow, as well as IMtalk. Dolphins made a visit near the end of the session. I was swimming on the course around 10AM and ran into a pod of at least 80! Just cruising in circles, having fun.

We're getting excited. The 2009 version of our "Floating Espresso Bar" in Kailua-Kona is almost here! We'll be out on the water, starting Tuesday morning, October 6. All sorts of new, fun things. Friday Morning - Last Day on the Water

Well, all good things must come to an end. Today was our last morning on the water. Don't think race officials would like it too much if we were on the water race morning. Although we had a number of swimmers ask if we'd be serving up coffee during the swim segment! Someday!

We were casting off our moorings as the Navy Seals were coming in following their practice skydive into the bay. Evidently 3 of them will be jumping tomorrow...2 will be racing. Check out the photo of their parachutes in the bow of the launch. Apparently they are "one use" only according to our buddy Chris who was steering their boat.

We anchored a little closer to shore this morning and didn't expect that many swimmers. Wrong! Ran out of coffee again and swimmers really enjoyed the "Erin Baker Breakfast Cookies" that we brought out. You can find them online at www.bbcookies.com . They are absolutely delicious with our 100% Moloka'i Espresso! I'm taking 5 of them on my bike tomorrow for the race.

Floating Espresso Bar - Day 3

We armed ourselves with more coffee today and still ran out before 9AM! Another beautiful day in paradise. We were greeted by a number of past ironman greats:

Paula Newby Frasier, Roch Frey, Paul Huddle, Heather Fuhr (all on stand-up paddle boards).....even Simon Lessing swam out for a cup.

No dolphins swam close today but could see them jumping and "spinning" in the distance.

Blue Seventy dispensed a whole duffle bag of their awesome swim goggles to swimmers with leaky goggles as well!

One more day tomorrow. I think we'll anchor a bit closer tomorrow to make it easier for family members to swim out. No more underwater banner...need to give my lungs a rest before the race!

We'll be serving and selling at Hawaiian Pedal Works today....

Swim Course - Day 2 - Coffee and Dolphins!

Wow, the theme of today's morning swim was dolphins! They were playing everywhere on the swim course and circled our floating espresso bar for an hour! All mammals drink coffee, right?

Guests on the raft included German TV media and Nicole Leder and Timo Bracht.

Scott Molina was an outstanding "coffee ambassador" again as usual.

Samantha McGlone even stopped by for a cup.

A good time was had by all and there were many sad faces when we ran out of coffee and left them in our stern wake. Looks like we'll have to get up even earlier tomorrow to start brewing!

Day 1 of our floating espresso bar was a success.....hit the beach early to provision the canoe and headed out with our Espresso, water, Nuun and Gu Roctane gels....cream and sugar, and we were ready to go. Here are a few of the many photos we took.
